WWII WORLD WAR TWO UNITED STATES ARMY AMERICAL DIVISION 1945 VINTAGE POSTER RARE

FOR SALE: This Rare Vintage Flyer/Poster of the Illustrious U.S. Army Americal division. This unit initially went into action on Guadalcanal as the first United States Army unit to conduct an offensive operation against the enemy. They fought across the South Pacific, through Bougainville, Leyte, Mindanao, Cebu, eventually becoming the first US infantry division on Japan, after their surrender, on September 8, 1945. This flyer was issued then. It shows an infantryman proudly striding over the unit's campaigns, setting foot, literally, on the home island of Japan. "Mission Accomplished", as it most certainly was, is proclaimed over this brave setting. It's a great piece, a wonderful piece of history. My dad (USN) had several of these in his service album, and I have a few of them still left. This one measures almost 8 1/2" by a little over 11 1/2" or so and is in remarkable shape for a piece of paper over 60 years old. There is a small tear (pictured) and some small rippling of the paper, both near to it's bottom left-hand corner as well as two pin holes, from tacks, in it's upper corners, within the blue border. None detract from this small piece of history. All and all, a beautiful and rare item, a piece of WWII history.
