Shrimp Dip:
2 cups shrimp, boiled, cleaned
1 tbsp onion, grated
1/2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1 package (3 oz) cream cheese, at room temperature
1 tbsp sweet pickle juice
1/16 tsp onion salt
1/16 tsp garlic salt
Grind shrimp. Combine shrimp with all the remaining ingredients and chill. Serve in bowl, surrounded with assorted crackers or potato chips. Make approximately 1-1/2 cups.

This recipe was used frequently at the Fisher-Miller-Blank New Year “drop-in.”
Mjeddrah: (Esau’s Porridge) (pronounced mi-jed-rah)
1-1/2 cups lentils (red lentils are more appetizing than brown)
4 cups water
3 to 3-1/2 tbsp olive oil (may substiute other oil or butter)
1 mediium onion, chopped
1/2 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup brown rice
Bring lentils and water to boil. Simmer 25 minutes. Heat oil in skillet. Saute onions and rice for 3 minutes. Combine lentils, onions, salt and rice. Cover and simmer 1 hour or until tender. May need to add up to 2 cups water during cooking. Stir occasionally.

According to Bible scholars, Mjeddrah is the “mess of pottage” for which Esau sold his birthright to Jacob. This stew looks like a “mess,” but it is the favorite of ALL the Landis children.
Condition: Very Good, and I checked EVERY page to enter all the names! (I include ALL names in ALL fundraiser-type cookbooks because I know how frustrating it is to hope and wonder if specific contributors are included in a book, only to find out they’re not, upon receipt.). Pages and covers are clean, tight to spiral binding, no writing, no folds or tears or chips, all pages intact, no defective spirals. Little to no wear to cover edge/corners. Any shadow is from copier and NOT on items. Books are NOT from smoke-free or pet-free environment. Email with questions or requests.
