You are buying the COMPLETE, ORIGINAL five VHS set, Brian Pillman Memorial Show, from Heartland Wrestling Association (HWA).
Trained out of the Dungeon by legendary Stu Hart in Calgary, Pillman, as "Flyin' Brian" had a series of memorable cruiserweight matches in WCW. He later turned heel, forming the Hollywood Blonds with Steve Austin, winning the Tag Team Championships. Although neither man was initially interested in forming a team, they quickly formed a lasting bond.
Pillman was a visionary, years ahead of his time, creating the "shoot angle". Pillman, as "The Loose Cannon", would stay in character 24/7, leading everyone to believe he had truly gone off the deep end. As part of the angle, Pillman was fired from WCW, freeing him to show up in ECW. Pillman was even working the bookers who assisted him, convincing WCW to legitimately terminate him to make it look more real. The angle played right into Pillman's hands, freeing him to sign a guaranteed deal with the then-WWF.
Unfortunately, Pillman crushed his ankle and required surgery to set it, setting back his in-ring début by many months. However, even on crutches, Pillman continued his gimmick, now calling himself "The Ticking Time Bomb", getting a huge push against his old buddy, Steve Austin, who was on his way to becoming the hottest commodity in wrestling. However, the constant stress on his ankle caused it to not heal, requiring it to be fused into a walking position, leaving him in intense pain, taking painkillers to deal with the injury and still work. Pillman's final feud was against Goldust, where Pillman claimed to have had sex with Marlena, even going so far as to claim that their child was his. The final angle was Pillman winning a match, earning Marlena for "thirty days, and thirty long, long nights".
Pillman was supposed to have a match at Badd Blood, but died hours before.
A year later, HWA produced the Pillman Memorial Show, featuring top stars from all of wrestling. Proceeds for the event went to the future education of Pillman's children. The final show was in 2001.
This took place when HWA was a WWF Developmental Territory, & able to take advantage of it to get WWF stars to volunteer their time to appear. One of the few times you will ever see WCW and WWF talent on the same card (although inter-promotional matches were still forbidden). Look for some of the top independent talent in the world here. A must for independent wrestling fan.
