Kabloona by Gontran de Poncins. Publ.1941 Reynal and Hitchcock First edition. 339 pages plus 16 pages of photos and many wonderful illustrations by the author. Illustrated map endpages. Kabloona means white man, and this is the story of a white Frenchman who traveled to the Arctic land of the Eskimos, now called Inuit. In an era long before instant communication, he was astounded with their unusual way of life and gradually came to admire and respect their remarkable talents. The book is in excellent condition for its age. There is a bookplate on the first title page but no other interior defacements. Back cover has small almost unnoticeable scrape and minor soil on the spine from shelf wear.
