Description:

Jump in the “way-back” machine and travel back to a time when Cartoons were really “Car-Tunes,” animated shorts that played at drive-in theatres before and between feature movie presentations. Cascadia Entertainment has digitally re-mastered these rare old cartoons from the 1930’s, 1940’s and early 1950’s; so that new and old fans alike can experience the magic of these post-depression era to pre-modern era animated classics. Each DVD in the Cartoons R Fun set has a different collection of animated shorts and an approximate running time of 60 minutes.

Included on this DVD:

This is it folks! The All-Superman DVD!!! Approximately 60 minutes of the original, classic Golden Age Superman cartoons from the early 1940’s!

* Electra Powered Machine (1941) – Includes the full Golden Age origin of Superman from the planet Krypton to his being discovered by a passing motorist and put in an orphanage to his disguise as the “mild mannered Clark Kent.” Metropolis is getting threatening letters from a madman and the “Chief” calls in Lois and Clark to cover the story. Lois tracks down the mad scientist and gets captured…until Superman comes to the rescue!
* Magnetic Telescope (1941) – A scientist’s strange experiment is endangering Metropolis with comets from the sky. The police try to stop him but only end up putting the city in more danger! Superman must try to save Lois and Metropolis from certain doom! Lois accidentally kisses Clark in the dark!
* Japoteurs (1942) – Includes full origin of Superman! The U.S. is building a giant bomber plane and some Japanese spies manage to infiltrate it and try to steal it for Japan. Lois steals away on the test flight and interferes with the saboteurs plans…until Superman appears and puts a stop to them for good!
* The Bulleteers (1942) – Includes a newer, shortened intro! Faster than a speeding bullet; more powerful than a locomotive; able to soar higher than any plane! A band of bad guys with a mysterious “bullet car” wreak havoc in Metropolis and demand the Mayor turn the city over to them…until Superman steps in and puts a stop to them!
* Jungle Drums (1942/43) – Includes a newer, shortened intro! Faster than a streak of lightning; more powerful than the roaring surf; stronger than a pounding hurricane! Plus it’s a WWII story as well! The German Army and Navy are hiding out in Africa and Lois and Clark are down on assignment. The Germans shoot down Lois’ plane and try to burn her at the stake…a big mistake!!!
* Mechanical Monsters (1941) - Includes a newer, shortened intro! Faster than a speeding bullet; more powerful than a locomotive; able to soar higher than any plane! Mysterious flying robots commit robberies for an evil scientist and Lois sneaks inside of one to get the scoop! Clark actually changes in a phone booth in this one…and Superman uses his X-Ray Vision to save the day!
* The Mummy Strikes (est. 1942) - Includes a newer, shortened intro! Faster than a speeding bullet; more powerful than a locomotive; able to soar higher than any plane! A scientist is killed and his assistant is blamed for it…until Clark gets a hot tip from another scientist at the Egyptian Museum exhibit. Clark goes to try to figure out the mystery and Lois is right behind him to try to get his story! Everything is going fine until King Tush’s sarcophagus opens and his ancient guards re-awaken!

All of these cartoons reference the Superman newspaper comic strip and the Action Comics and Superman Magazines (not called comic books!). This series was very “dark” and is very dark (meaning you may have to increase your brightness and contrasts levels to see it well). These cartoons came out when Superman was still fighting for “Truth and Justice” (before they added “The American Way”). Lois’ hair is auburn rather than black and Superman still “vanishes” before police can question him!
