And for Bernard Davis, long responsible for converting these riches into pounds sterling, there was more in store some thoroughly unsavory disciples of Marx and Lenin, as well as some hard-line Maoist, not to mention several rackety representatives of the Western Democracies seemed determined that the proceeds of any future sales would not go to the last of the Davydovs.
