Description : To get an idea of the qualities of the blind organist and the respect for him during his time, it is enough to read the words his son Hernando wrote during the preface to the edition of his works : Those musicians who have received honor are few and among them we can say that Antonio de Cabazon deserved it, and the world is full of his reputation, which will never be lost among those who appreciate music.

He was blind from the time he was a small child. With this, the sensitivity of his sense of hearing was increased to make up for what he could not see.

Antonio de Cabezon dedicated himself completely to the study and composition of music and never put on airs because of his accomplishments in the field, nor disdain those who knew less than he, but honored them all and praised what there was in their works.

He did not keep his marvelous talent to himself, but taught all those he could. He was loved by everyone who knew him, because of his virtues, and no one was stupid enough not to recognize the extent of his genius. This was true not only in Spain, but also in Flanders and Italy where he served King Philip, our lord, who loved and respected him.
